Monthly Meditation: The Power of Love

With Valentine's Day being marked on February 14, this month often makes us think of love. But what is love? Is it the euphoria you feel when you first start "falling" for someone? Is it about being accepted or appreciated? What makes love so special? Why is it important? As you watch our meditation consider the following: Where do you hear God's call and challenge to grow in love? How will you respond? How are you a loving person? Share your thoughts in our comments section below. And, Happy Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones! As Cornelia Connelly, our Foundress said, "Love in strength, rather than too much sweetness."

Thank you for these beautiful, inspirational meditations. As I watched this one, it occurred to me that love is giving yourself..... Whether to another person or task. Someone once told me that the day you live totally for another will be the happiest day of your life.

This is very moving. It gives little hints of opportunities right there for me/us.

This is just beautiful and moving. It is truly a prayer in itself. I look forward each month to your reflections. May love lead us always!

It is so easy to love those who think and act as we do. To love those who do not necessarily share our views and ways is definitely a challenge. Thank you for helping me focus on how to truly love.

In these meditations thank you for the Cornelia quotations which, after all these years, I have not been familiar with. Could you link us to highlights of her writings? Thank you, Liz

Giving yourself in love is both a joy and can be a great challenge.

This is truly beautiful and right for any time of year.

This meditation fits so well with the Sunday readings. I found it beautiful as well as thought provoking. The questions are challenging, and for me to accept someone just as he or she is, not how I would want him or her to be is the greatest challenge of love. Mary Jane Hicks

Just beautiful. I'm going to try to get it on our school web site for this month.
Thanks so much,
Mary

To love unconditionally, we must be aware of God's presence in ourselves and in others. I know that God lives in my children through Baptism. Every day, I remind myself of that and ask Him to watch out for them. This prayer gives me great peace of mind in knowing that God is caring for them. If only I could remember to do this for all mankind ! We don't give God enough credit for working in others.
